   In addition to having almost every feature one would want in a recreational drone the Gleesfun G11MINI achieves it while remaining under 250 grams. This is a real benefit for the hobbyist drone flyer as you don’t need to go through the cumbersome process of getting and maintaining FAA registration. You also don’t need to get FAA approval before each flight.

   This drone has many advanced features including GPS follow, the ability to do circles around a point to capture it from all angles, the ability to follow a predetermined course, and a few others. What I think is the most useful feature is the automatic Return To Home (RTH). This can be a lifesaver if you lose connectivity with the drone. It will automatically return to where it launched from and land. This has saved be from losing it several times. It will also automatically return if you aren’t paying attention and the battery level gets too low.

   I read through the instruction manual a couple times and was then easily able to fly it. As I gained experience and got more comfortable I began experimenting with all of its features. The photos and videos from it are really good and being able to automatically circle around something while keeping the camera pointed at it can create some really nice videos. Same with flying a course. I had it head out over the water and then circle around and follow the coastline. It resulted in a beautiful, professional looking video.

   It is supposed to have about a 1,600 foot range, but I could only get it to go about 1,000 feet before losing connection and automatically returning. This could have been the result of local interference or something else. I don’t really see that as a problem since by law you are supposed to maintain eye contact at all times while flying and when even just 1,000 feet away it is just a tiny speck if it’s visible at all.

   It doesn’t handle strong wind as well as a larger heavier, drone, but that’s to be expected and is the trade off for not requiring FAA registration. It can still be flown when it is not calm, but the videos will not be as smooth.

   I got the full 30 minutes out of each battery and maybe a little bit more. They charge via a USB-C cable, but oddly the controller uses a micro-USB cable to charge.

   It is intended for adults, but as a testament to how easy it is to control my 4 year old daughter has no trouble flying it around the backyard and avoiding trees. Although she does have experience flying a toy drone around inside the house. It does come with a set of replacement rotor blades. Thankfully I haven’t needed them yet, but they are nice to have.

   All in all this is a great, full featured, easy to fly drone that allows you to have fun without FAA hassles.

   after 1 year the drone continues to function perfectly even after some spectacular crashes. i have also found the drone and app work well connected to an ipad pro and vitrue xr glasses. this gives a decent FPS view while flying. for an entry level drone this is hard to beat. received the drone today and had it flying within 10 min. packing and case are top notch and the whole kit appears to be well made. each battery had about 50% charge so my first few flights were a bit short. the bad stuff first: as others have reported online this drone suffers from the “toilet bowl” hovering issue. it appears to have issues holding a solid hover more than a few seconds. it slowly begins moving in ever widening circles after a few seconds. this is easily managed by manual control but for the price i’d expect it to be a bit more solid. the drone requires you phone be dedicated to connect to the drones wifi. for video and advance flight features such as waypoints and follow modes. not a problem just be aware it is required. Gps accuracy for return home was pretty far off. my other drone will land within a couple of feet of launch. this one was about 15′ away. not a big deal for a budget drone and return did work well enough. the good stuff: SUPER simple to fly and get started. this drone is amazingly simple to calibrate an fly. the app is solid. all feature are easy to access and appear to work well. follow and waypoint modes worked well for a small drone it handles wind pretty well. winds were in the 5-10mph gusts at one point and while it did get blown around it easily handled them and had plenty of power. the camera takes excellent video and videos and pics were surprisingly stable. the gimble system works pretty well. overall this a decent budget level entry drone for a new flyer. i feel the price is a bit high for the performance but the quality is pretty solid and the drone and it’s accessories do appear to be solid and well made. if you are an experienced drone pilot this wont be the drone for you. it more in the toy category. if this is a first drone and you want to see if this is your thing, you can do a lot worse.
