   I am experienced flying small indoor “Whoop-style” FPV drones, but this is my first ready-to-fly kit that includes everything. Overall, I’m super impressed with this Apex Kit but I do have a few complaints. Here’s what I like and don’t like about this Apex FPV Drone Kit: ******************************************** LIKES: *Complete Kit: You really do get everything you need to fly FPV in this kit from the goggles to the controller. You get charge cables and extra parts as well. Apex did a good job with this kit. *Sturdy and Responsive Drone: The drone flies surprisingly well. It’s slow and stable in beginner mode and fast and responsive in the more advanced modes. I’ve run it into walls and furniture a lot while flying around the house, and with the shielded blades, there hasn’t been any damage to the drone or the object it struck. So far, very impressed with the drone itself. (I show a demo flight at the end of my review video and you can watch me run into a doorway and keep flying). *Flight Options: There are multiple flight modes that make it easy (or easiER) for someone who’s just starting off. In the beginner mode, the drone hovers hands-free surprisingly well once you get it trimmed (instructions on how to do that in the manual). Its auto-hover function in beginner mode means that even if you reflexively chop the throttle all the way down, it won’t just fall out of the sky but will gradually come down. I’m more experienced so I prefer the faster speeds and the more responsive throttle for quick altitude adjustments but you have several options to work with. There’s even a sport mode that takes the training wheels off and gives you full flight control, but I still find that mode a little difficult to work with as it’s really twitchy. This kit will definitely make a great learning platform to beat up on while you learn to fly before transitioning to a higher quality drone. *Extra Batteries: With 3 battery packs for the drone itself and rechargeable FPV goggles (the controller takes AAA batts) you can get about 15 minutes of solid flying (about 5 minutes per battery) for every 45(ish) minutes of charging. Buying some additional battery packs and a multi-charger would get you even more flying between charges so that’s definitely something I’ll be looking into. *Surprisingly Good Signal Range: I was able to fly down hallways and into other parts of my house and still have solid control of the drone and a decent picture on the goggles. With only a single omnidirectional antenna on the goggles and a small whip antenna on the drone, I’m pretty impressed with that. * Color Changing Option: You can change the color of the LED on the inside of the drone so the whole body glows. This is an awesome feature if you intend to purchase more than one kit and race them. It’s a nice little bonus feature. *Goggles- These little FPV goggles are actually really impressive. They auto scan for the strongest signal coming from the drone, making it super easy to link them. You can manually scan if you want to change channels but the auto scan works so well, I don’t know why you would need to. You can adjust the brightness of the monitor (I found the standard brightness to be too much and have mine turned as low as they will go. You can also adjust color and contrast and stuff like that. One of my favorite things about the goggles is that they accept a micro SD card and let you record your flights onto the card (watch my video). ******************************************** DISLIKES: There are a few dislikes that I have with this kit. *No Turtle Mode: A lot of newer FPV drones have a “turtle mode” where you can press a button and only 2 motors turn on so the drone can flip itself back over when it lands upside down. This one does not have that and it seems almost every time I crash (and trust me, you WILL crash) the drone seems to land upside down so I have to get up and go turn it back over. *Annoying Low Battery Alarm: The controller beeps regularly to give you an audible alert of the battery status while you have the goggles on. As the battery gets lower it starts beeping faster to let you know it’s getting low before it auto-lands when they get too low. I haven’t found any way to turn the beeps off and they’re really loud and irritating. I wish it had a vibrate function instead. I guess it accomplishes its purpose though because you definitely know when your battery is low. *Goggles Small/Uncomfortable: I get the feeling the goggles were intended for kids. I have the elastic Velcro straps let all the way out and they’re still a little tight (I do have a really big head though). The plastic nose cutout shape is a little weird shaped as well. They aren’t super comfortable but luckily I only wear them for about 5 minutes at a time during each flight. I’m sure you could add extra padding to make them more comfortable if you wanted to modify them a little. *No Carrying Case: It would be nice to have a little case with a handle to carry the entire kit around in. Everything fits nicely back into the box so it’s not really a negative, just a wishful note. ************************************************* NOTES: *Pay Attention to Flight Modes: It’s very easy to accidentally switch flight modes using the upper bumpers on the controller. Doing so will change the speed (low, medium, fast) or mode (beginner, sport, advanced) depending on which trigger you hit. If you don’t realize you changed to an advanced mode and reflexively bring the throttle down when you’re used to flying in beginner mode, the motors will just turn off and the drone will fall out of the sky. In the sport modes you control the throttle directly so you have to learn to bring it down gradually. ************************************************ Overall, I’m super impressed with the performance of this Apex kit. I think it’s worth the price and I think it’s a great kit to learn to fly FPV on.

   Had to get a replacement, which works fine….the 3star is due to operational incompetence. The drone itself and VR is fine. I just suck at it as of right now. It seems like the rating will be on the rise soon.

   The drone is great, it responds very well, plus it is made to take a “lick’in” and it keeps a “tick’in” !!! worth the mention as well- this little guy is FAST!!!- the controller is well made and comfy in the hands….but THIS headset, oh boy THIS headset! well first of all it works (after screwing with the antenna)—– and the picture quality is better then expected, but the antenna requires me to force it into the goggles in order for it to pick up signal, as if its a bad or loose wire on the inside of the goggles, or possibly a wonky solder joint. Also the SD card slot will not read any card i put in. I tried to find any information on if the goggles required a specific micro sd and I could not find a single stitch of wording anywhere outlining any card requirement detail. And last but not least…I cant get the head motion control to work….blaming it on the headset since everything else that has been wrong with this thing since opening the box, has all been due to this obviously faulty headset that i got got stuck with.. If it wernt for this, *defective from factory* headset I got, i would actually highly recommend this RTF FPV set up. I was actually ready to consider this package good enough to buy one for each my guys for our upcoming 1 year small business anniversary, but now I will need to see if there is another brand that puts out a decent indoor FPV package for under $200 before making those purchases…

   It flies great and it comes with three batteries plus a charger that has three sockets. So you can charge them all at the same time I’ve also crashed it. Plenty of times and it just keeps trucking very durable also the remote controller and goggles each have a built-in battery So this thing literally comes with everything you need 🤙🏾

   The left thumbstick on the controller is odd for take off and landing. I believe it is supposed to come that way, so don’t assume it is broken when you open it. Just an FYI because I couldn’t find anything on the internet about it.
